The ceremony was interrupted by Sandman's arrival which Spider-Man swung off to intervene.[1]

That same night, Gwen was present with her parents in the same French Restaurant where Peter was about to propose to Mary Jane. She started to talk to them and asked Peter if he had a picture of her kiss with Spider-Man. This angered Mary Jane, as Gwen was also flirting with Peter by caressing his shoulder every time. As Gwen leaved, Peter and Mary Jane got into an argument, especially because Mary Jane thought Peter was trying to push her away, despite he claimed her that he and Gwen were just friends and that he only did it as a stage performance to the public and had no intention of pushing her away.[1]
Night at the Jazz Room[]
- "That was all for her. I'm so sorry."
- ―Gwen Stacy[src]
A few days later, Gwen was invited on a date by Peter, who was under the influence of the symbiote, at The Jazz Room where Mary Jane was working. Peter tried to do that so he could make Mary Jane jealous, as he believed she betrayed him with Harry, after he regained his memory and vendetta against Peter. When they arrived at the Jazz Room, Peter openly flirted with Gwen and she was having pleasure with it. When they found a table, Gwen saw Mary Jane and asked Peter if he wanted to leave with her, but Peter answered her she would be fine.
As Mary Jane started to sing on the stage of the club, Peter started to play the piano and did a full dance routine, with the crowd who started to cheer him. At the second part of the dance, he started to do a close dance number with Gwen and she starts to enjoy herself, believing Peter had feelings for her. During the dance, Gwen was amused while Peter made a fancy dance move with her, by then wrapping a leg between one Peter's and caressing. She then made a casqué dance move, while Peter whirled her around. The dance number ended with Peter raising Gwen's leg, turning her around and then dip her backwards, with an excited Gwen looking at him. After the dance, Gwen noticed Peter was looking at Mary Jane and so, she realized that it was to make Mary Jane jealous after she was blackmailed by Harry Osborn to break up with Peter. Gwen openly apologizes to Mary Jane before leaving.[1]
Gwen later returned to her father's home, where it was raining, Gwen consoled her father when he checked the reports of Flint Marko and the murder case of Ben Parker. Unknown to her, Eddie Brock, who bonded with the same alien symbiote after Peter rejected it when he realized it was changing him for the worse, stumbled into her apartment and attempted to attack her, but he stopped upon seeing Flint Marko's criminal profile. This prompted him to choose him as his potential ally and fled from the scene, Gwen thought she heard something but didn't see Venom and closed the window.[2]
