"New York City. It's my home. My playground."
―Spider-Man[src]

New York City is a large city located in the state of New York and the largest city in the United States. It is also the home and playground to Spider-Man/Peter Parker.

History[]

Rise of a Hero[]

New York City is the home to Peter Parker, his best friend Harry Osborn and childhood crush, Mary Jane Watson. After being bitten by a genetically engineered super spider during a school field trip, Peter discovered he had gained the proportionate powers of a spider. He used them to become the crime-fighting vigilante superhero, Spider-Man, vowing to protect the city from its criminal underworld, after his beloved uncle, Ben Parker, was killed by a carjacker. He fought numerous crimes in the city while being slandered by the Daily Bugle's editor in chief, J. Jonah Jameson, who started a smear campaign aganist the wall-crawler.

Green Goblin's Rampage[]

New York City would have its first supervillain, the Green Goblin, who was Oscorp Industries CEO, Norman Osborn's split persona, that is targeting the Oscorp board members and going into a conflict with Spider-Man. The battle between the superhero and supervillain continued in various parts of the city, until the Green Goblin met his demise when he was impaled by his own glider, when he attempted to kill Spider-Man with it during their final confrontation.

Doctor Octopus' Campaign[]

When two years follow, New York City's next supervillain was the dangerous, tentacled villain known as Doctor Octopus, who was Dr. Otto Octavius, after an accident of a fusion reactor that fused four mechanical tentacles to his spine. Doctor Octopus would go into a conflict with Spider-Man, while attempting to rebuild his fusion reactor in order to prove he could control over the enormous power of the sun. Spider-Man, on the other hand, would suffer an extratensial crisis, due to him struggling to balance his double life and leading his powers to vanish. Spider-Man temporarily gave up crime-fighting, which caused the crime rate to increase and the public in New York to miss him.

Spider-Man's powers were later restored and he returned to stop Doctor Octopus from causing more havoc in New York, including saving a derailed train full of passengers and stopping his rebuilt fusion reactor. Spider-Man later helped to reform Doctor Octopus into convincing him to deactivate his fusion reactor, which led to Doctor Octopus letting the machine drown into the Hudson River along with himself, as an act of redemption for his crimes and for the death of his beloved wife, Rosalie Octavius.

The Battle Within[]

Over a year after the defeat and death of Doctor Octopus, Spider-Man would face multiple villains in the city of New York; the vengeful New Goblin, who was his best friend Harry Osborn, the shape-shifting Sandman and an alien symbiotic costume, which bonded to Spider-Man, changing his suit to black, but changing his behaviour for the worst. Spider-Man found out the black suit's true nature and rejected it, returning to his red and blue costume, but the symbiote would later bond to Eddie Brock, creating Venom. Spider-Man managed to defeat both Sandman and Venom, along with help from a reformed Harry Osborn and saved New York City again. Eddie and the symbiote met their demises when Spider-Man used a pumpkin bomb to destory the symbiote and later forgave Sandman for his uncle's accidental death, allowing Sandman to escape peacefully. Harry died in Spider-Man and Mary Jane's arms after he sacrificed himself to save his two best friends.

Later Years[]

When the years follow, Spider-Man continued to fight crime and injustice in the city of New York from various criminals and supervillains, before he was transported into another alternative reality, similar to his own.
